Senator Marco Rubio shared a bombshell revelation in 2023 about UFO whistleblower David Grusch’s claims. Rubio confirmed that Congress has heard similar claims before, and they’ve had people with firsthand experience also come forward.
Grusch became the focus of international news after filing a whistleblower complaint in 2023 that alleged the United States government is hiding a clandestine UAP retrieval program from Congress (and everyone else.) He says the program has been ongoing for decades, and that the U.S. has possession of craft created by non-human intelligence. Rubio’s interview gave more credence to Grusch’s claims, along with insight about why some people hadn’t come forward publicly.
Here’s a look at exactly what Rubio revealed.
Rubio Said They’ve Had Firsthand Witnesses Come Forward Corroborating Grusch’s Claims
In 2023, Grusch made a number of claims during an extended interview with journalist Ross Coulthart and in a report by The Debrief. He said credible, reputable sources with firsthand knowledge had talked with him when he was investigating UAPs for Congress. Some of the claims included that:
- The U.S. has been recovering fragments and intact vehicles from non-human intelligence (NHIs) for decades.
- He provided Congress with “hours of recorded classified information” in 2022.
- The Intelligence Community Inspector General found his claims “credible and urgent” in 2022.
- Multiple agencies were “nesting” UAP activities in “conventional secret access programs without appropriate reporting to various oversight authorities.”
- He described this as a “Cold War for recovered and exploited physical material” between “near-peer adversaries.”
Sen. Marco Rubio later came forward and told NewsNation reporter Joe Khalil in an interview that others with firsthand knowledge corroborated many of Grusch’s claims.

“I will say there are people who have come forward to share information with our committee over the last couple of years,” Rubio acknowledged. “I would imagine some of them are potentially some of the same people that perhaps he’s (Grusch’s) referring to. I want to be very protective of these people. A lot of these people came to us even before these protections were into law for whistleblowers to come forward.”
Considering that Grusch’s claims first came out in 2022 and Rubio told NewsNation that some shared information with their committee “over the last couple of years,” it sounds like at least some of these claims were made to Congress before Grusch came forward. But that leaves open a question: if Grusch hadn’t spoken publicly, how long would it have taken the congressional committee to share these claims with the public?
Rubio Said Some of the Witnesses Were Fearful of Their Careers and of ‘Harm Coming to Them’
It seems there were compelling reasons why some of these corroborating witnesses haven’t spoken out publicly. While some are known to the public eye, Rubio hinted, others don’t want their names made public for fear of reprisal.
“Or [they] have firsthand knowledge or firsthand claims of certain things,” Rubio told NewsNation. “Some are public figures, you know, and we’ve heard from them in the past. Others, umm, you know, have not shared publicly. And so we’re trying to gather as much of that information as we can… And the reason why I’m being cautious, I’m not trying to be evasive, but I am trying to be protective of these people. Some of these people still work in the government. And frankly a lot of them are very fearful: fearful of their jobs, fearful of their clearances, fearful of their career, and some frankly are fearful of harm coming to them.”
Rubio Said Some Witnesses Have High Positions in Government & No Logical Reason to Make Anything Up
Rubio was then asked by NewsNation if he finds the people who came to them with firsthand knowledge to be credible.
“Well I don’t find them either not credible or credible because we have no basis about,” Rubio clarified. “Understand, some of these claims are things that are beyond the sort of realm of what any of us has ever dealt with. What I think we owe them is just a mature … listening and trying to put all these pieces together and just sort of intake the information without any prejudgment or jumping to any conclusions in one direction or another. I will say, I find most of these people — at some point or maybe even currently — have held very high clearances and high positions within our government. So you start, you do ask yourself, what incentive would so many people with that kind of qualification — these are serious people — have to come forward and make something up?”
Sen. Rubio is part of what is colloquially referred to as Congress’ “Gang of Eight” (i.e. eight leaders within Congress who are briefed on classified intelligence matters.) Rubio coming forward with this information is a big deal.
And @SicCoP1, why isn't most of mainstream media covering this huge #UAP story when one of the most senior members of one of Congress' most well informed committees Senator @marcorubio has confirmed Grusch's allegations are backed by multiple other witnesses? @Coulthart_Zabel https://t.co/bRaPueUzEt

The current “Gang of Eight” intelligence members are Sen. Rubio and Sen. Warner (from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence), Rep. Mike Turner and Rep. Jim Himes (from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence), Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Sen. Mitch McConnell.
