President Donald Trump has signed an executive order demanding the declassification of files related to John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and DMartin Luther King Jr.’s assassinations. While the order is exciting, it doesn’t provide a specific deadline for releasing the documents — only for creating a plan to do so.

Meanwhile, in the UFO community, many people are wondering if these files might hold information related to UAPs. And even if they don’t, perhaps Trump’s push for declassification will eventually spill over into the UFO arena as well.

Trump’s Executive Order Calls for ‘Plans’ to Be Made to Declassify the Documents, But No Declassification Deadline Was Set

Unfortunately, it still might be some time before we actually get to read the files for ourselves. While the order is sweeping, it’s not immediate.

Trump makes it clear in his order that continuing to redact JFK’s assassination files, or files relating to King or RFK’s assassinations, is “not consistent with the public interest nad the release of these records is long overdue.” This includes “all records in the Federal Government’s possession” related to RFK and MLK’s assassinations also.

But there’s a catch. The order delineates a deadline for putting together plans for their release, but not the actual release itself.

For the JFK files in particular, officials have 15 days to present Trump with a plan for the full release of the records. And for the MLK and RFK files, officials have 45 days to “review records” related to the two assassinations and present  Trump with a plan for the “full and complete release” of the records.

Nothing in the order presents a deadline for actually releasing the files.

The signing happens at 4:30 in the video below.

One nice part is when he finishes signing the order, Trump says: “Everything will be revealed… Give that to RFK Jr.”

What Does This Mean for UFOs?

So what does this mean for UFO disclosure? The answer is essentially: maybe something, maybe nothing.

There have long been rumors that JFK’s assassination was connected to UFO disclosure in some way. But it’s just one of many rumors and theories surrounding JFK’s assassination.

Certainly, UFOs were a big source of news and rumors when JFK was President, much like they are today. And there’s that infamous JFK memo to the CIA about UFOs that may or may not be real. NBC News reported about it back in 2011 and shared a picture of the memo dated November 12, 1963.

In it, JFK allegedly writes the CIA, informing then:  “I have initiated … and have instructed James Webb to develop a program with the Soviet Union in joint space and lunar exploration. It would be very helpful if you would have the high threat cases reviewed with the purpose of identification of bona fide as opposed to classified CIA and USAF sources. It is important that we make a clear distinction between the knowns and unknowns in the event the Soviets try to mistake our extended cooperation as a cover for intelligence gathering of their defense and space program. When this data has been sorted out, I would like you to arrange a program of data sharing with NASA where Unknowns are a factor. This will help NASA mission directors in their defensive responsibilities. I would like to have an interim report on the data review no later than FEbruary 1, 1964.”

Author William Lester claimed, while researching a book about JFK, that he uncovered the memo, which is dated 10 days before JFK’s assassination. Lester claimed to have gotten this and two other memos from a FOIA request to the CIA. But a research technician at the JFK Library told NBC they couldn’t find a copy of it in the presidential archive. And the memo doesn’t look like other memos that JFK wrote on top secret subjects.

Lester claimed the document he found provided proof to backup another “burned memo” that started being passed around in 1999 from an anonymous “leaker.” In that memo, NBC shared, the CIA director allegedly wrote that JFK “has made some inquiries regarding our activities, which we cannot allow. Please submit your views no later than October. Your action to this matter is critical to the continuance of the group.”

However, the memo Lester found is highly contested and many don’t believe it’s real.

Hopefully, the rest of the JFK files shed light on this and many other questions.
